Only those who recognize the cause can find an effective solution. In most cases, this is due to moisture penetrating from the outside. The water gets into the masonry and rises up the walls via fine cavities. As an expert, Swiss Renovation will provide you with professional advice on the various waterproofing methods.
Drying:
The drying of floor structures, walls, flat roof insulation and cavities is carried out using a process specially developed by us. In each claim, the possible procedures to be used are examined and then applied individually.
Capillary moisture:
Moisture seeps into the masonry over the years, especially in old buildings in which the barrier layers are defective or not present at all. This is called capillary moisture, as it is drawn into the masonry due to the so-called capillary effect.
Oppressive wetness:
Pressing wetness is when moisture is pressed into the wall with increased pressure due to water damage and pressing groundwater.
Quickly drying the rooms or parts of the building affected by water damage fulfills two important functions: On the one hand, it prevents consequential damage, such as the spread of the damage or the formation of mold. On the other hand, appropriate remedial measures can be implemented promptly and you benefit from rapid damage repair.
Drying of water damage:
Defective or unused seals are usually the cause of moisture ingress. Mold can develop after just 10-14 days, so it is important to act as quickly as possible.
As soon as the cause of the water damage has been eliminated, the masonry is professionally dried using professional equipment.
When drying water damage, Swiss Renovation works with air and heat. Depending on the building material in the masonry, an optimum combination must be used.
Step 1: Installing the air intake hoses
Swiss Renovation will suck the air out of the damp insulation layer via hoses using a suitable drying system. This takes place either via edge joints or via a special air intake opening.
Step 2: Drying
the drying system will dry the air flowing through the underlay floor edge joints under the screed and remove the moisture from the insulation layer and all cavities.
Step 3: Measure/check
We carry out regular control measurements to determine how far the drying process has progressed and whether it is being carried out thoroughly.
As soon as the waterproofing is complete, the restoration plaster supports the drying phase of the masonry.
The multi-layer plaster system prevents the masonry that has already been worked on from decomposing any further.
In new buildings, a wide variety of building materials are used, such as concrete, masonry or screed, which require a large proportion of water. To avoid mold, condensation or damp spots, it is important to give the building materials time to break down moisture.
The natural or artificial cavities are filled using special processes. The cavities are filled with injection material without pressure or only under low pressure. These methods are often used for floor slabs and natural stone masonry, and drill packers and injection lances are used to implement the process.
Causes of moisture damage:
Below you will find out about the various causes of possible moisture damage in the building:
– Capillary rising damp
– Moisture penetrating from the side
– Hygroscopic water absorption
– Condensation damage
– New building moisture
– Leaky roof that lets rainwater through
– Damage to the pipeline
– Cold and thermal bridges
– Incorrect ventilation
For meaningful moisture measurement results, you should rely on professional support. Our latest technologies enable Swiss Renovation GmbH to take accurate moisture measurements. Each moisture measurement is carried out by a highly qualified technician and documented in a detailed report. Another undeniable advantage is that the appropriate measures for drying or removing mold from the walls can usually be initiated immediately.
Condensation damage can usually be caused by incorrect ventilation behavior. If the window is left open for too long in the colder months, the masonry around the window will cool down considerably. The warm room temperature that meets the cooled masonry leads to increased humidity, which in turn leads to condensation damage and mold.
If two unkempt outer walls meet, the effect is amplified and the temperature in the corners is even lower. If the ceiling of the room is also uninsulated, the likelihood of moisture spreading is even higher.
Hydrophobization is the impregnation and insulation for your buildings:
Hydrophobic coating is a colorless, UV-resistant and finely dispersed coating. The impregnating liquid penetrates deep into the building material and the surface is sustainably and effectively protected against moisture, mold, dirt and even graffiti. The building breathes and stays dry.
As a specialist company, Swiss Renovation GmbH analyzes the building fabric and offers you long-term protection.
Hydrophobization is used to impregnate capillary-absorbing pores near the surface of building materials to prevent the penetration of moisture. The surface is softened by the hydrophobic coating, which means that the water is no longer attracted but repelled.
Clean and smooth surfaces of the stones and mortar joints are important here. If the joints are damaged and the brickwork is irregular, the waterproofing cannot remain effective and this can lead to moisture damage.
The aim of hydrophobization is to achieve good long-term effectiveness without negative side effects. The substrate should therefore be cleaned of dust and grease and be completely dry before applying the water repellent. Moss, mold and algae growth must be completely removed with mold remover.
There are different methods for hydrophobization, which can be applied to the facade. The simplest method is spraying, whereby the surface of the building material is sprayed with a pump sprayer until the façade has a matt damp sheen.
The hydrophobization of masonry offers a lot of advantages and not only protects the building materials, but also helps to insulate your building and improves and saves your heating costs.
The main focus of renovation work in the event of pressing water (e.g. in underground garages) is to seal as quickly as possible in order to avoid major damage. The most suitable materials for this are polyurethane foams and fast-reacting polyurethane resins, as they have a short reaction time and are not miscible with water.
In masonry, for example, the ground moisture can rise up to approx. 9 m in the cellar and soak the masonry from the inside. In the center of the wall there is a higher transillumination than in the areas near the surface. In addition to moisture, salts harmful to the building material also enter the masonry, which evaporate and lead to plaster flaking.
This can also be prevented subsequently by the horizontal barrier.
As soon as the basement waterproofing is not fully in place, the components of the basement come into contact with the damp soil.
Depending on weather conditions and soil quality, the soil contains a certain amount of water.
Without optimum basement waterproofing, this can penetrate the masonry unhindered. A distinction is made between ground moisture, accumulating seepage water and pressing water.
Subsequent sealing is therefore possible so that moisture damage can be prevented as quickly as possible.
Hygroscopic moisture occurs when large quantities of salts accumulate in the masonry. This happens when, after some time, the moisture is distributed capillary in the masonry and evaporates in the inner wall. The salts dissolved in the water are then visible on the surface of the masonry and can be seen in the form of moisture rings with salt efflorescence on the surface of the building component.
Swiss Renovation can prevent this through hydrophobization by impregnating the masonry against driving rain, for example.
Waterproofing with proven waterproofing systems at a glance:
Horizontal barrier with a 25-year guarantee of effectiveness:
- The cause of moisture damage
Step 1: Swiss Renovation GmbH will provide you with professional on-site advice on your property in order to offer you the perfect solution.
- Cause: Before a masonry is repaired, a careful analysis is carried out by an expert. During the analysis, the moisture penetration of the masonry is examined to determine the exact cause.
- Analysis: The surface-inside wall humidity, surface, outside wall temperature are measured and the dew point is determined. Finally, we use the thermal imaging camera to find out exactly where the energy loss is taking place.
- Solution : As an expert, we use the above-mentioned measuring methods to find out which material is suitable for your masonry.
Depending on the thickness of the masonry, 12.5 – 25 cm x 14 mm holes are drilled in the corresponding area.
